As the designer behind Rachel Dawn Designs, I create jewelry from both sterling and fine silver, brass, copper, and semi-precious stones. I am fascinated with the imperishable qualities of metal and the impermanence of fiber, and by combining the two, a legacy is created with each new work of art I make. I received a BFA from Colorado State University with a double major in metalsmithing and fibers. My creative enthusiasm was evident as a young child and I was always encouraged by my family. I remember my grandmother passing down her mother’s costume jewelry when I was young and telling me to go nuts. Bracelets and necklaces were torn apart, beads flying everywhere. I made these jewelry pieces into my own, some of which I still cherish to this day. The thought, that something I create will live on past my own time, challenges me to put my all into every piece. My goal is to create personal connections- not just pieces of metal or works of art. With each hand-crafted design I create a legacy of love between my work and those who wear it.
